Sustainable Operations at the Core of Responsible Businesses

Marimar E Baticulon (Mai) is the Program Head for Organizational Sustainability at the Ateneo Institute of Sustainability. Prior to AIS, she was Assistant Vice President of the SM Sustainability Office at SM Investments, working with the diverse businesses of the group. She led sustainability initiatives in retail practices and employee training, helping companies within the group integrate sustainability in their operations. Currently, she is also the country coordinator for 3ZERO (Zero Exclusion, Zero Carbon, Zero Poverty) at Acted Philippines, a Board Advisor at non-profit organization SustainablePH, and the Vice Curator of the Global Shapers Community Manila Hub. Mai holds a master’s degree in Sustainability Management and a bachelor’s degree in Management Engineering from Ateneo de Manila University. Her work focuses on designing, executing, and teaching sustainability solutions for organizations.

Quantifying Waste Leakage along the Waste Management Value Chain

Maria Antonia N. Tanchuling is the Dean of the College of Engineering and Professor of the Institute of Civil Engineering (ICE) in the University of the Philippines Diliman. She was the Director of ICE from 2017 — August 2022, the first woman to hold this position since the establishment of the BSCE program in 191o. She is the former Coordinator of the Environmental Engineering Graduate Program and was also the former Associate Dean for Student and Industry Linkage of the UP College of Engineering. She is the Chairperson of the Philippine Association of Tertiary Level Educational Institutions in Environmental Protection and Management (PATLEPAM). She is also the Vice-chairperson of TAO-Pilipinas, an NGO which assists urban poor communities plan its settlements. She is a founding partner of AMH Philippines, an engineering consultancy firm. She is the Chairperson of the Environment and Energy Specialty Group of the Philippine Institute of Civil Engineers (PICE) as well as an adviser of its Student Affairs Committee. Her major research interests are on solid waste management, plastic leakage studies, and microplastics.

Water footprint Consideration in Supply Chain

Dr. Dennis E. Cruz is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering of De La Salle University. He is a former Associate Dean of DLSU Gokongwei College of Engineering. He is currently the DOST-SEI Undergraduate Scholarships Project Director for De La Salle University. He just completed his Doctor of Philosophy degree in Industrial Engineering in De La Salle University last December 2023. He also finished his Master of Science in Industrial Engineering and Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering Minor in Chemical Engineering in the same University. His areas of interest include Supply Chain Management, Circular Economy, Water Footprint, Sus­tainability, Facilities Planning, Mathematical Modelling, and Optimization.
